    Simulation and Performance Analysis of MP-OLSR for Mobile Ad hoc Networks

    Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) consist of a collection of wireless mobile nodes which dynamically exchange data without reliance on a fixed base station or a wired backbone network, which makes routing a crucial issue for the design of a ad hoc networks. In this paper we discussed a hybrid multipath routing protocol named MP-OLSR. It is based on the link state algorithm and employs periodic exchange of messages to maintain topology information of the networks. In the mean time, it updates the routing table in an on-demand scheme and forwards the packets in multiple paths which have been determined at the source. If a link failure is detected, the algorithm recovers the route automatically. Concerning the instability of the wireless networks, the redundancy coding is used to improve the delivery ratio. The simulation in NS2 shows that the new protocol can effectively improve the performance of the networks

    Performance evaluation of the Mojette erasure code for fault-tolerant distributed hot data storage

    Packet erasure codes are today a real alternative to replication in fault tolerant distributed storage systems. In this paper, we propose the Mojette erasure code based on the Mojette transform, a formerly tomographic tool. The performance of coding and decoding are compared to the Reed-Solomon code implementations of the two open-source reference libraries namely ISA-L and Jerasure 2.0. Results clearly show better performances for our discrete geometric code compared to the classical algebraic approaches. A gain factor up to 22 is measured in comparison with the ISA-L Intel . Those very good performances allow to deploy Mojette erasure code for hot data distributed storage and I/O intensive applications.Comment: 5 page

    Le code à effacement Mojette : Applications dans les réseaux et dans le Cloud

    Dans ce travail, je présente l'intérêt du code correcteur à effacement Mojette pour des architectures de stockage distribuées tolérantes aux pannes. De manière générale, l'approche par code permet de réduire d'un facteur 2 le volume de données stockées par rapport à l'approche standard par réplication qui consiste à copier la donnée en autant de fois que l'on suppose de pannes. De manière spécifique, le code à effacement Mojette présente les performances requises pour la lecture et l'écriture de données chaudes i.e très régulièrement sollicitées. Ces performances en entrées/sorties permettent par exemple l'exécution de machines virtuelles sur des données distribuées par le système de fichier RozoFS. En outre, j'effectue un rappel de mes contributions dans le domaine des réseaux auto-organisés de type P2P et ad hoc mobile en présentant respectivement les protocoles P2PWeb et MP-OLSR. L'ensemble de ce travail est le fruit de 5 encadrements doctoraux et de 3 projets collaboratifs majeurs

Maladministration is also incompatible with the principles of good governance , clean and efficient . Representatives of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Riau Province is a representative of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia in Riau that serves to monitor and prevent acts of maladministration which occurred in the province of Riau . Representatives of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Riau Province oversee implementation of public service with follow up reports / complaints from the community to produce a decision in the form of recommendations and suggestions . The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance and also the factors that influence the performance of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Representative Riau Province in Handling Reports Pekanbaru city community .The concept of theory that researchers use is performance. By looking at the responsiveness , responsibility and accountability of the Ombudsman Representative Riau Province . This study uses qualitative research methods with an assessment of descriptive data . In collecting the data , researchers use interviewing techniques , observation , documentation and literature. By using key informants as a source of information and triangulation techniques as a source of data authenticity .After doing research, it was found that the performance of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Representative Riau Province in the handling of public reports Pekanbaru city has been running well , but still not optimal due to the completion of reports requires a procedure that is quite complex and is still the lack of public knowledge of Pekanbaru on the existence of the Ombudsman as well as the functions and tasks

    Quel système de stockage pour les architectures Fog ?

    National audienceDans ce papier, nous nous intéressons au stockage distribué dans un contexte de « Fog Computing ». Nous définissons un ensemble de critères (localité des données, confinement du trafic, fonctionnement en mode déconnecté, mobilité des utilisateurs) que doit satisfaire un système de stockage adapté à ce contexte. Nous vérifions in vivo sur la plateforme Grid'5000 si les deux systèmes de stockage en mode objet Rados et IPFS respectent en particulier le confinement du trafic réseau entre les sites de Fog. Ce critère a un impact majeur sur les performances en écriture et en lecture. Par l'expérience, nous concluons que les deux systèmes comportent des lacunes et nécessitent des améliorations, notamment au niveau de la gestion des métadonnées. La méthode peut être étendue à l'ensemble des critères énoncés ainsi qu'à d'autres solutions logicielles de stockage

    QoE enhancement for H.264/SVC video transmission in MANET using MP-OLSR protocol

    International audienceThis paper addresses the problem of enhancing video service quality for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) scenarios. We offer Multipath Optimized Link State (MP-OLSR) routing protocol for H.264/SVC bitstream forwarding in the MANET network. Besides the usage of a suitable routing protocol, the video quality can be further enhanced by using the scalable encoding feature of Scalable Video Coding (SVC) combined with Unequal Error Protection (UEP). SVC is an extension of the H.264/AVC video compression standard used for high-quality video bitstreams encoding, providing spatial, temporal and quality scalability. To evaluate video quality, the Video Quality Metric (VQM) is used. We chose 5 different video contents for our simulations characterized by various temporal and spatial complexities. These video references are taken from the Video Quality Expert Group (VQEG). The results show that multipath routing combined with UEP can effectively improve the quality of video communication over MANET in terms of VQM and successful video decoding

    Redundant Image Representation via Multi-Scale Digital Radon Projection

    International audienceA novel ordering of digital Radon projections co-efficients is presented here that enables progressive image reconstruc- tion from low resolution to full resolution. The digital Radon transform applied here is the Mojette transform first defined by Guedon et al. in [1]. The Mojette transform is a natural way to generate redundancy to any specified degree and has been demonstrated to be useful for redundant representation for robust data storage and transmission.     A New H.264/AVC Error Resilience Model Based on Regions of Interest

    International audienceVideo transmission over the Internet can sometimes be subject to packet loss which reduces the end-user's Quality of Experience (QoE). Solutions aiming at improving the robustness of a video bitstream can be used to subdue this problem. In this paper, we propose a new Region of Interest-based error resilience model to protect the most important part of the picture from distortions. We conduct eye tracking tests in order to collect the Region of Interest (RoI) data. Then, we apply in the encoder an intra-prediction restriction algorithm to the macroblocks belonging to the RoI. Results show that while no significant overhead is noted, the perceived quality of the video's RoI, measured by means of a perceptual video quality metric, increases in the presence of packet loss compared to the traditional encoding approach

    Spatial Implementation for Erasure Coding by Finite Radon Transform

    International audienceFault-tolerance has been widely studied these years in order to fit new kinds of applications running on unreliable systems such as the Internet. Erasure coding aims at recovering information that has been lost during a transmission (e.g. congestion). Considered as the alternative to the Automatic Repeat-reQuest (ARQ) strategy, erasure coding differs by adding redundancy to recover lost information without the need to retransmit data. In this paper we propose a new approach using the Finite Radon Transform (FRT). The FRT is an exact and discrete transformation that relies on simple additions to obtain a set of projections. The proposed erasure code is Maximal Distance Separable (MDS). We detail in this paper the systematic and nonsystematic implementation. As an optimization, we use the same algorithm called "row-solving" for creating the redundancy and for recovering missing data
